Tiger Woods Plays a Round with the President

Tiger and Obama play 18 holes at Floridian in Palm City

During a men?s golf getaway weekend in Florida, Barack Obama hooked up with PGA icon Tiger Woods for 18 holes of golf at the Floridian in Palm City.

The commander-in-chief and Michelle Obama once again planned separate President?s Day long weekends.? The First Lady headed for the Aspen ski slopes with daughters Sasha and Malia while POTUS headed for a much warmer climate for an eight hour golf lesson from Tiger?s former swing coach Butch Harmon.

On Saturday the President hit balls in Harmon?s studio and then played 27 holes as Butch critiqued his swing and provided golf tips.

Sunday the plan had been for Obama and Tiger to play 18 at The Medalist Golf Club, Woods? home course.? They opted instead for the Floridian Yacht & Golf Club and enjoyed a ?media free? zone during their golf outing.

The weekend foursome members included a couple of men with strong Texas roots: Jim Crane, a Houston businessman who owns the Floridian and the Houston Astros, and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk, a former mayor of Dallas.

Harmon tagged along both days and later related, ?Just to see the interaction between the two on the range was pretty neat.? The President said to Tiger: ?The last tournament you played was fun to watch.? It?s good to see you play well again.?? You could tell he meant it.? It just wasn?t a throw it out compliment.?

Butch hit Twitter to reflect on the past few days, ?What a great weekend.? To spend it with the President and have my son Claude by my side.? It doesn?t get any better than this.?
